“Midsummer” at Lakeland Angling Centre, is a lakeside lodge, and a fishermans dream. Located on Lough Corrib, Ireland’s premier Wild Brown Trout fishery, and in the heart of Ireland’s Fly Fishing Country, every effort is made to ensure that you will have a memorable holiday experience here and catch a fish or two into the bargin!

Fishing is free for trout but a licence is required for Salmon.

We would advocate a catch and release policy where possible. All season fishers are also catered for and there are some well developed coarse fishing lakes in the area. We will provide you with all the information you need and directions on how to get there. Many are within a few miles of the house. You can also fish year round on Lough Corrib for Pike.

One can expect to take trout on the fly at any time during the season, given the right conditions, but the chances are greater and the sport is better during the big fly hatches. The first of these is the Duck Fly from mid March to early April, progressing to the Olive hatches through April and then on to the famous Mayfly from the early days of May to the beginning of June.

Your next best flyfishing oportunity through June and July is for the summer run of salmon which brings you on to the Daddy and Grass Hopper fishing of August and September. The brown trout season runs from Feb 15th to the 30th of Sept. Lifejackets are provided with all boats and there is a well equipped rod room with a freezer, stove drying facilities and local maps, and local advice. The boat moorings are just a short walk through the garden and for those with tired legs it is possible to drive one’s car to the moorings!

Coarse fishing is also available on smaller lakes in the area, and the Western Regional Fisheries Board have developed a number of them to incorporate stands, stiles and footbridges. These lakes hold bream , roach, pike and bait suppliers can be found locally.

Deep sea angling centres are located on the coast and pollock, ling , cod and coalfish are to be caught and mackerel are plentiful during the summer. Arrangements can be made by us for you with a dependable skipper.
